Faces behind the name

Hello, I'm Kari and this is my husband, Jesse; we're the faces behind Cultivating Wild Roots.

As a little girl, I'd snuggle up in my grandma's lap as she taught me how to crochet. Fast forward to adulthood, my friend encouraged me to start crocheting again, and I've consistently been doing it for ten years. I love making things for my family and I wanted to share that with others. There is a Danish phrase called, "Hygge," which means to create a space that is warm, inviting, and cozy, all with the people in your life. We seek to create that abundance with the handmade things that we provide.

While I produce most of our products, my husband has recently taken to learning the production side and he's now an excellent creator. We make a great team as our strengths complement each others. My husband's leadership role in his job lends to a solid foundation for our crochet business.

We'd love to be friends on Instagram. Over there, you'll see our goofy side and be able to see our products in action.

Community Outreach

Our passion is to give back to our community. Our most recent fundraiser, that we like to call, Operation Beanies for Bravery, did really well. With the help of patrons of our community, we were able to donate beanies to an entire Montana Reserve unit, who are serving our country overseas.

Recently, our family has been touched by cancer, so we have our sights set on donating beanies to patients battling a cancer diagnosis. We understand the fear these diagnoses bring, so we'd like to show empathy, love, and care to people during their darkest time. Our next fundraiser is set to kick off this spring.

Local

Being Made in Montana is a badge of honor in our state, and we're proud to wear it. We love meeting other local artisans as we attend craft fairs all over Montana. We are proud to be authentically made in Montana.

2024 Fire Within Aspire Award Winner

I am extremely honored to receive The Great Falls Development Alliance Aspire Award for 2024. It was an honor to meet many strong female entrepreneurs and I am grateful to do business along side them in wonderful city of Great Falls.

The Fire Within Aspire Award is given to women who've been in business 1-5 years. It highlights women business creators who have taken the leap of faith to develop their dreams into reality.
